Chemicals
Mining chemicals, mineral acids, industrial salts and gases, detergent alkylates and sulphur. Every line ships with a safety data sheet, a batch certificate of analysis and a transport classification confirmed in writing before booking — because in this division the documentation is not administration, it is the product.
The book
Five lines, each with its own technical page.
Each page states what the material is supplied against, what the documentation covers, and where we will decline. Two of these lines are traded only against a verified end use, and the page says so before it says anything commercial.
Mining Chemicals
Sodium cyanide for gold and silver leaching, sodium chlorate for chlorine dioxide generation. Supplied only against verified end use, import licence and demonstrated site handling capability — the compliance file comes before the indication.
Mineral Acids
Technical sulfuric 93–98%, non-concentrated nitric 57–60%, synthetic hydrochloric. Bought on concentration and delivered on materials compatibility — we confirm the receiving equipment before we confirm the fixture.
Salts & Gases
Sodium bicarbonate, ammonium chloride and carbon dioxide across technical, feed and food grades. Grade is a separate supply chain rather than a quality ranking, and it cannot be added to a parcel afterwards.
Alkylates & Paraffins
Linear alkylbenzene, heavy alkylbenzene and molecular-sieve normal paraffins, quoted from one desk because they come off one chain. Chain-length distribution, linearity and bromine index are the trade.
Sulphur
Granular, prilled, crushed lump and molten, into sulfuric acid and phosphate fertiliser production. Handled as a chemicals line rather than a bulk afterthought, with the moisture and acidity that decide handling stated per cargo.
How this division is supplied
Bought to your order, and screened before it is priced.
Nothing in this division is held in stock. Every line is bought against a firm requirement, from producing plants, in equipment appropriate to the material — which is a strength on specification and a lead time to plan for.
- End use before price
- On restricted lines the end use is established before an indication exists. That is not a slower version of the normal process; it is a different process, and an enquiry that treats it as a formality will not get an answer.
- Equipment before fixture
- For acids and gases, the receiving equipment is confirmed before the fixture. Materials compatibility failures write off tanks, and the question that prevents them costs nothing to ask.
- Grade separation is physical
- Food and feed grade material moves in dedicated equipment with the certification the destination requires. Technical grade cannot be promoted to food grade by certificate, and we will not issue one.
- Term supply beats spot on most of this book
- Dedicated equipment, permitting and qualification all reward a programme. Carbon dioxide in particular is regionally supplied and periodically short — if it is critical to your operation, it is a term arrangement.
Controls
Restricted substances, and how we handle them.
Three of the materials in this division sit under explosives precursor controls, and two are traded only against a verified end use. We would rather set out the position plainly than have it discovered mid-transaction.
- Explosives precursors
- Nitric acid, sulfuric acid and sodium chlorate are Annex I restricted explosives precursors in the EU, with limit values of 3%, 15% and 40% w/w respectively. The restriction governs supply to members of the general public; supply to professional users with a demonstrable business need is the normal industrial trade, and it carries duties — procedures for detecting suspicious transactions, reporting them to the national contact point within 24 hours, and retaining transaction records for 18 months. We operate those procedures, and we do not discuss a report with the counterparty it concerns.
- Verified end use
- Sodium cyanide and sodium chlorate are traded with mining operators and licensed distributors able to evidence end use, permitting and site handling competence. An enquiry that cannot do so is declined at enquiry — and not referred onward, because referral moves a problem rather than resolving it. See Mining Chemicals.
- Segregation
- Cyanides and acids must never be stowed, stored or transported together in any circumstance. Where a buyer takes both from us, the consignments are planned separately and the segregation position is stated in writing on both.
- Counterparty and origin screening
- Per consignment rather than once at onboarding, covering sanctions, ownership and route. Where an origin or an end use cannot be cleared, we decline — see Compliance.
Documentation
Supplied as standard, on every line.
A consignment that arrives without the right classification does not clear customs, does not get accepted at the gate, and does not get insured. None of those are recoverable after the fact.
- Safety data sheet
- In the format and language required by the destination jurisdiction — REACH / CLP for the EU, GHS-aligned elsewhere. Supplied in advance where it is needed for permitting, not only with the goods.
- Certificate of analysis
- Batch-specific, issued by the producing plant against the agreed parameter and test-method schedule, verifiable by independent laboratory where contracted. A type certificate reprinted per shipment is not a certificate of analysis and we will not present one as such.
- Transport classification
- UN number, class, packing group, IMDG / ADR / RID / IATA status, tank or packaging code and segregation requirement, confirmed in writing before booking rather than carried over from a previous shipment.
- Emergency response
- Documentation accompanying every consignment in the languages of transit and destination, with a monitored contact that answers.
- Equipment history
- Previous cargo declaration and tank cleanliness certificate. On acids and on food-grade material this is a safety and integrity control, not a quality formality.
